BOYD COFFEE COMPANY HELPS SOLDIERS IN IRAQ KEEP COOL
THROUGH PROJECT ICY TREAT

Portland, Ore –Boyd Coffee Company is donating 50 cases of our tasty Coffee House Freezers® iced cappuccino and smoothie product to help chill our troops stationed in Iraq. The donation is being made through “Project Icy Treat”, a program spearheaded by Sharon Crary, an Albany, Ore., woman who’s son is serving in Iraq.
Sharon Crary’s son, SPC Preston Crary, 21, is a chaplain’s assistant with the 82nd Airborne. He requested a frozen drink machine that could make up to 100 drinks at a time to help the soldiers beat the 110-degree-plus summer temperatures in Baghdad. “It would be a great morale booster,” Preston said. Serving with Preston in the 407th Brigade Support Battalion are a mix of infantry, medics, mechanics and other support soldiers.
The Bunn Company donated the machine, and Boyd Coffee Company donated the product, which include a variety of Coffee House Freezers® cappuccino and smoothie flavors.
Because of the complexity in sending the machine and product parcels overseas, Sharon Crary partnered with Give 2 the Troops, a national nonpartisan organization formed to assist our deployed servicemen and women. Give 2 the Troops Washington State Branch Director, Pete Cassell, picked up the product at the Boyd Coffee Company Roastery on Tues., May 2.
The soldiers should receive the machine and product before the midsummer heat begins.
