ELMER'S RESTAURANTS, INC. HONORS BOYD COFFEE COMPANY
WITH PARTNER OF THE YEAR AWARD
December 2, 2009
Portland, Ore. - Boyd Coffee Company, a family owned and operated purveyor of fine coffee, tea and foodservice equipment nationwide, earned the Partner of the Year Award from Elmer's Restaurants, Inc. Rodney Bryant, Elmer's Director of Purchasing, presented the award to representatives from Boyds sales management team at Elmer's annual management conference held in Coeur d'Alene, ID, on October 10, 2009.
To explain why Boyd Coffee Company received the award, Bryant said, "Coffee is a very emotional product for our customers and our employees; it's near and dear to their hearts. When we changed our coffee purveyor to Boyds [in 2008], we knew it could be challenging," Bryant said. "To our surprise, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. We didn't have one complaint, not one. The Boyds team installed hundreds of equipment pieces in more than 30 restaurants, and to not hear about any issues? Boyds knocked it out of the park!"
"We take a close look at all our partners before choosing one. It's not just about sales volume, it's about quality and service," Bryant said.
Elmer's administration, purchasing employees, restaurant managers and franchisees provided input for the Partner of the Year Award, according to Bryant. "They said Boyd Coffee Company's Sales and Service Technicians' contact with our restaurants is such a positive influence on our partnership. The level of service we're receiving, that's outstanding," he added.
Dick Boyd, Co-CEO and President of Boyd Coffee Company, thanked Bryant, and said, "We are honored and privileged to receive the Partner of the Year Award. It's the heart of Boyds' mission to grow great partnerships with a passion for quality and integrity and to deliver more than what is expected in our products and service. This means a lot to us and tells us we're doing some things right but also inspires us to even greater possibilities in our partnership as we move forward."

About Elmer's Restaurants, Inc.:
The first Elmer's Restaurant opened its doors in 1960. Located at N.E. 82nd Avenue in Portland, Oregon; this restaurant was the dream of Walt Elmer, a locally successful restaurant operator. The chain grew to 27 restaurants (12 corporate, 17 franchised). Then, in December 2000, Elmer's acquired five Mitzels' American Kitchen Restaurants, which are located in the Puget Sound area, and it also owns two Taprock Northwest Grills. Elmer's Restaurants purchasing staff members work hard to source fresh, local ingredients for the menu specialties. The menu changes seasonally to take advantage of the available produce, such as apples or Walla Walla sweet onions in the fall, asparagus in the spring, and watermelon and fresh blueberries during the summer. In addition to seasonal ingredients, Elmer's vendor list features many Northwest-headquartered suppliers' products, such Boyd Coffee Company's coffee, Tillamook Cheese and Daily's Premium Meats, which supplies Elmer's bacon (Bacon is the number-one selling menu item, since Elmer's serves breakfast all day).
